| Quote Deano G="Deano G"Spot on. If I were a Hudds fan I'd be keeping a low profile when threads appeared questioning what certain clubs add to the SL party. I would concentrate on trying to persuade a few friends (if I had any) to follow the club, because they are desperately needed by Hudds, particularly the kind of fans who can be bothered to travel 40 miles to watch an away game.
'"
Again i ask, why is averaging 9,486 pathetic?? Would you not say that considering that for the last 40 years we had struggled to attract even 1000 supporters to games, considering the lack of success we've had in the last 50 years, coupled with the fact that 2 of the most succesful clubs of the last 20 years are on our doorstep thus attracting the floating supporter, considering that even 4 or 5 years ago we were struggling to get even 4 or 5 thousand do you not think that by doubling our average that it should be applauded? Or are you just going by how many supporters we bring to wigan on a friday night? Remember the licence criteria is based on home support not travelling support

| I think it's pretty obvious he had no idea that was your average.
After reading the Quins board of late I've seen a number of supporters talking about a possible relocation. It's worked for top union sides; Wasps, Saracens London Irish so could it be the answer for London RL.

So numpty is quite apt then
I agree with relocation,as i posted on the quins board, surely the club is fighting a losing battle tryin to attract large crowds to watch rugby league in the shadow of union HQ? how many ppl in london or indeed outside the rugby league family will think watching the rugby at harlequins means watching super league?

| Quite frankly they need a local derby, like Catalans.
Of course they are going to bloody struggle if they are so isolated and have nobody to be their rivals. Rivalry is needed in sport.

Look at the three teams you have played at home though:
Bradford - 9,774
Warrington - 8,567
Leeds - 10,116
Those are very average attendances indeed, especially when you consider Warrington & Leeds would have made up a significant amount of those crowds.
I'd say you're only looking at 5-6K home support if that, in addition to the "cheapest season tickets in SL" and the fact you're a regular Top 4 side these days! Pretty shabby if you ask me.
If your average remains at 9500 at the end of the season, then yeah it's an improvement, but until you have played Quins / Catalans / Crusaders - then I wouldn't read much into those numbers.

| To be fair most clubs have 'ways' of boosting the average attendance. The Big One, Heinz buying out the North Stand being just a couple at one club I know.

Correct. However, the same club also manage to obtain 23K+ versus St. Helens and 19k+ versus Warrington regularly paying full price.
In addition 13,680 v Crusaders, 12,001 v Catalans with a van load of supporters for each ain't too bad really.

| The biggest worry for Quins was the amount of season ticket holders that didn't bother going last night. I'm assuming that the official attendance of 2.6k would have included these. It must have because there was no more than 1000 in the ground. So 1600 ST holders, out of say 2000-2500 absent !!! Maybe i'm missing something.......

| Quins also provide a focal point for league in London. There's a growing youth and amateur game in the London area that's finally beginning to pay dividends in London-born players getting through to the Quins first team which, long-term, will increase the England player base. Take Quins away and those youngsters have nothing to aim for. Having said that, I've never been so worried about Quins' future as I am this season. They need to improve things drastically and it's not playing in Twickenham that is the problem. Last time they were there, in the old Broncos days, average attendances were way up on what they are now. It's all the subsequent moving that shattered the work they were doing and I agree with the RFL that they have to stay in one place long-term and build an identity.

No, I meant Catalans could do with one too. Crusaders are close enough to Wigan/Wire/Saints to get a decent traveling support every so often.
