| Quote Katrina="Katrina"He penalised us a lot in the first 20 mins or so, whilst not penalising Leeds for the exact same things. He was trying to make a point and stamp his authority on the game, but was very inconsistent in doing so.'"
That's the whole point in a nutshell. If the ref wants to penalise to ensure quick PTB's then he needs to do it consistently for both sides and he didn't. Had he done so the match would have dissolved into a penalty-athon.
Because he didn't, it then leads to accusations of bias based on the fact our tackling technique has been highlighted by certain coaches on the wrong end of a result.
I would add though that he got most of the other decision's correct but the way he went about things in the first 20 minutes to get the quick PTB was not even handed.

| Quote Pemps="Pemps"He had a good game. The Joel incident is exactly why the on report system was brought in. Gansen didn't see the incident properly but suspected something had gone on. He has to put it on report.
Best ref on SL.'"
No, Ganson says...." I saw what he did ", obviously not Steve as he didn't do anything !!!!, he is arguably the best ref in the comp, but he does like the 'limelight'.

I personally think he may have said that to try and diffuse any anger from the Leeds players who thought Joel had done something.

| Quote Vectrabeast="Vectrabeast"I honestly thought at the game that he had a shocker and seemed to be letting his ego get the better of him, but to be fair having watched it back on the TV, I think he got most things right and did prove to me he is the best ref in the comp.
I do have one major gripe with him though that on occasions =#FF0000he seems to take an age to make a decision to (in my opinion) get the limelight on him and try to manufacture a bit of controversy, for example calling a 20m restart at the beginning then changing it to a dropout. A dropout was clearly the correct decision and I know it probably had something to do with Alibert having a word but he does this quite a lot.
Secondly listening to it on the TV I thought his handling of the Fielden dissent situation was pretty poor and again showed his OTT ego, in my opinion Fielden didnt seem to show any OTT dissent to Ganson but Ganson was clearly heard on the TV saying "Dont even look at me" which is out of order and ultimate penalised Fielden for saying "I'll look where I want". Very poor from Ganson
Lastly I feel Alibert should take a bit of praise for once, he was handed two pretty tricky Video ref calls and got both spot on, I know some would disagree with the Burrow one and I myself half expected to see "benefit of the doubt" but in my opinion we should never really see those words as it takes any good work from tommy and pat out of the equation, on the VR it looked very close but sat pretty close to it at normal speed I was quite confident that Pat and Tommy had done enough.'"
Can I just correct this part?
Ganson didn't have a clear view of ST's jump and as no TJ told him anything, he gave a 20m restart.
As he was running back, the TJ on the West Stand side told him (several times) that Sam had jumped from the field of play.
To clarify the situation, Ganson referred to Alibert, but it was the TJ who screwed up by not saying immediately that it should be a dropout (and TBF - Ganson had a go at him, and the TJ apologised both at the time and at half-time for not being quicker to make the call).
My only issue with Ganson on Friday was that Leeds were being just as fast/slow as we were at the PTB, but he only penalised us as he seemed to think that he needed to "sort us out" early on.
