| I cannot believe this farce is continuing still.
It really is simple. Keighley just were not good enough and that is down to the players and coaches , no one else.

| That might be the case 'Leaguefan' but what about 'Playing according to the Rules'?
You don't care about Rules, or do you?
That's the point.
So why have any Rules at all if they can be broken with impunity?
Let's forget about Rules and let anything go!

| I don't think anyone has denied that Keighley could have and should have done more in some games to come away with more points. I think a lot of people are still disgusted by the lack of reasoning from the RFL... and if the clubs had been fined instead of a points deduction then at least the clubs would have been punished for breaching rules and the league table would be identical as it is now. However the clubs have not been punished at all and the RFL appear to be lacking any justification for this!
This EGM has to agree and begin fixing some significant issues in the RFL, the RFL is the farce, not the fact that Keighley and Sheffield are pursuing whatever route it can to get the underlying issues looked at.

| Why have Keighley refused to meet the RFL when invited? Why did Keighley refuse to discuss the matter with the RFL AND other clubs at a club forum last week.
Either get on with it or forget it. Disrupting the launch of the new structure will not make you many friends. Don't remember Widnes launching legal action when an extra relegation place was added mid season when they made way for catalan.
Yes you have been unfortunate, but lets get on with it. Still confused also why you are signing players when you seem to be unsure what league you are playing in.

Last I heard is the club was trying to get answers but the RFL would not reply.
Would be interested to know where this info has come from as I doubt we would have refused to meet them?

I can't find the story on the web to post a link but I have got a copy of today's League Express. Gareth Walker's article is titled 'Cougars claim EGM support' and it explains that we now have the support of enough clubs to force an EGM. Gary Fawcett also explains a bit about what the RFL's response has been. League Express approached the RFL for a statement and they've basically said that they've co-operated fully with the legal process instigated by the Cougars and that, prior to us seeking legal redress, they offered to meet the club to discuss the issues but that Gary declined the offer. They also say that we had the opportunity to raise any concerns and debate potential outcomes with the RFL and the other Championship and Championship 1 clubs at the clubs' forum on 8th October. Gary is said to have declined this opportunity and 'there was no suggestion from the other clubs of any support for this latest course of action by the Cougars'. The RFL is continuing to show due diligence etc etc.
If I recall correctly the RFL did offer a meeting but only on the understanding that they had no intention of doing anything to rectify the situation which is entirely of their own making. Why on earth would Gary / the Cougars attend such a meeting?

You are quite right CDC, there would have been nothing but an uunsympathetic ear or two and a brew (maybe)
Was the EGM on the agenda at the meeting in Halifax? -probably not
We're cougars able/allowed to add this to the agenda? - possibly
This is a legal challenge and the EGM is a logical way of avoiding dragging the game through the courts, would this meeting in Halifax have been an appropriate way of raising the issue of calling the EGM? - probably not, I wouldn't as this is a completely separate matter to anything else being discussed in RL at this time and I wouldn't want to lower the profile by tackling this issue without a separate voting system to arrange the EGM

Keighley in the process of legal action.
Maybe Keighley legal team advised them not to go.

| Page 2 of League Express. RFL offered to meet before legal redress was followed Fawcett refused. He again refused to discuss/debate the issues at the Champ and Champ 1 club forum on the 8th. It also suggests there was no indication of support for an EGM either.
