What was the single goal of this year?



I keep reading all the negativity about style of play desire etc.



Going back to preseason posts on here there was in general 1 single objective.

There was 2 for me....



1. Balance the books.



2. Stay up.

And as far as the no 1goes you have been the best

well I believe

just watching the Widnes game on DVD ,buzzing again.you are still well down the pecking order for touch rugby now

So far so good, lets hope they have a nice big tick at the end of the season for 2 and forever for number 1.

True story.

It's a fair point, but you are forgetting the main point: it's the entertainment industry.



So stay up and stay solvent are the main goals. Entirely understandable, but from a fans point of view, you'd be entitled to say "bought the gold membership, see you in September".



Most fans, as far as I can tell, just want to see their team compete. I can take a loss. I can't take a lack of effort on the way. There are two types of good coaches: those who get a lot out of average players, and those who get a lot out of great players. The two are not usually interchangeable. I get the impression that Agar might be the latter. We need the former. Too early to tell if Webster is the former.



If you want people to turn up every week with their hard-earned twenty quid in their hands, you can't rely on "well, twelfth and solvency is fine". It is in the long-term, but is hardly a reason to give up an afternoon. Knowing your side will bust a gut is.

Exactly this, but it is a point that seems lost on some.

Bloody hell, Daddycool's turned up again!

We have done neither yet.

The last ten days has seen us move closer but still we have a long way to go.

Richard Agar staying on any longer could have stopped us from achieving both.

The bulls staying up could have stopped us from achieving both.

Losing on Friday night could have stopped us from achieving both.

As it is everything went our way on all three and could see us achieve both.

Tim Smith coming back is another huge plus.

As a point of interest DC how close are we to 1. And has a degree of overspending had to be signed off in order to achieve 2. due to lower income (?) and a precarious league position.

I said those were my aims for this season. From the brink of administration. I couldn't have cared less this season if there was no entertainment as long as those 2 objectives were achieved. I thought I had that backing at the time. Obviously I was wrong. And it's been proved in the crowd figures. With hindsight would I have done things differently last august. Quite simply yes.
