| Our pack looks great FOR 2015 but the man that knits players together and all special plays is still not signed? What is happening with Tim Smith? Surely Salford will be miles over salary cap and they must be desperate to offload him. Tim Smith is our main man; he was a intergal part for us staying up last year. Hull KR maybe sniffing around; we need

| I suspect the problem is Marwan wants a transfer fee as he got for Sneyd and our Chairman has said there is no money for transfer fees Is there not acompany or business man out there that would stump up the cash as someone once did for Wally Lewis.

This has been posted how many times? As MC has already indicated, we are doing everything we can in our budget to get him signed up. There's no use going on about it.
I would imagine Hull KR are in a position to offer a fee, and a bigger salary, so if they are sniffing around you would have thought from a Salford POV that would be the better option.
Although I do think TS will be with us next season.

IF my memory serves me right I think the business man who should have sponsored Wally Lewis reneged on the deal! I seem to remember we were left with a loan to pay for that deal!

| It's disappointing that you should quote that Lewis's pay wasn't made and that would really make the gent who paid him very upset. The person who funded the move still goes to every home game and has been a fan all his life. He is still friends with wally 30 years after he played for us. That friendship doesn't sound like one built on non payment??

| Barry Hough was the man who negotiated and paid to bring Wally Lewis over to Wakefield.
He paid every penny of the fee agreed and as has been said already he would be pretty upset at someone suggesting he hadn't paid up on the deal.
I've known Barry all my life and he is an honourable man and is also a lifelong Wakefield Trinity supporter. I also still speak with Wally on a fairly regular basis and I know for a fact that both he and Barry are still good friends.
If Wakefield Trinity had more businessmen with the passion for the club that Barry has then we may not have had four decades of boom and bust

| The story about how Wally came here and who paid for it all has been told a few times over the years just on this forum. Never heard anything different from what Clan says, for what it's worth.

| Wish Tim Smith was in the same league as Wally Lewis.
If Smith doesn't sign still think we may go ok with Godinet, Sammut and Hall as potential pivots and a good pre-season together.

I merely quoted what was rumour at the time - from what you state it was wrong, so I apologise if I cause any offense to the sponsor concerned.
It's a long since but I'm sure I read something in the press at the time that the club had to find money to fund the deal, so it just shows, you cannot believe what you read.
Not only an apology but a thank you to the guy for bringing over one of the best to wear a Trinity shirt.

We may go OK providing we can go all season without picking up any injuries. If you consider no Smith then we can use Hall at number 6 but then we are short at 1. I suppose the answer is to maybe clone Hall so that we can play him at fullback, centre, wing and stand off.
The basic truth is that we are light in in all areas in the backs and if anyone thinks we will make the top 8 with what we have currently got are much mistaken.
I have said before don't blame the supporters, I asked what have we spent the additional Sky money on because our salary spend must be less this year and I believe our new commercial team have increased the hospitality and sponsorship pricing considerably. I guess they must think they are still at Manchester United.

| Timmy is the brain of the team, there is nobody currently at the club to compare.
If for instance HKR did show an interest & paid what Salford are asking, fair play to them. But they may not even be looking at him.
But if he does slip through our fingers & we fail to replace him, we could be looking at 2014 first half of the season déjà vu.
What price a brain?

| Salford may agree terms with HKR or anyone they like but unless Tim Smith agrees to move to that club there is no deal.
I have it on good authority that Tim Smith has learned the value of being happy where he is rather than chasing the money at the risk of his peace of mind and therefore his form.
