I think mathers suits the role of the fullback type we require at wakey presently. He excels at kick collections, joins the attacking line and gets iinvolved throughout. He does these better than many full backs.



I would agree that his one on one defence can let him down on occasion though but he has also pulled off some try savers too. Think he's worth another year and can't see much better out there at present.

Mathers is a decent fullback is big let down as always being his defence one on one he is poor but I do not see how we can change the team other than to bring Ali in Wildie would be my option over Wood but that wont happen

Would be good to find the next Wakefield full back from our own academy.



We may see more of grayston, fletcher, cowling, Walshaw next year. Some exciting backs coming through. Probably the most productive academy since the Ellis/westwood days.
