 Love it!
I absolutely love Ray Warren, and I also really like the more relaxed approach that some/most Aussie commentators bring. I also really like their use of recent players, Lockyer, Brett Kimmorley, Joey Johns etc....
On Sky, I think I go by the same principles, I like Brian Carney and Jon Wells, and I actually enjoy the daft interplay between Barrie Mac and Terry O'Connor

For me all Ray French ever did was made me cringe. I could always see bias amongst his mumblings and he was prone to a lot of errors in his commentatory. I was glad to see him retire but still cringe now when he does those half time segments talking of the history of the Challenge Cup.
Not sure who I could say has stood out as the best for me in the UK. I'm quite content listening to Barrie Mac, Jon Wells and Brian Carney.

Are you serious ?
As a player he was superb (both codes) and I agree about his knowledge of the game but, as a commentator he just uses the word "simple" to explain every move or score.
I've nothing against the Welsh but, his accent just grates.
If he's commentating, I turn the volume off.
If him and Stevo are the only 2 options, I would stick with Stevo, (still on mute though)

Irony, or comedy genius?!
I fell for Vossy during the WC, but if you listen to him every week in the NRL, he's prone to the same over-analysis of refereeing decisions that obsesses Eddie - it puts a negative slant on things and is unnecessary in my view. Unlike Eddie however, he's a naturally funny and likeable bloke, so he grates less.
Ray Warren is great - partly because of his history with, and knowledge of, the game; he has yet to become a cliché machine like Stevo and appears to still be in possession of all his faculties, which is a big bonus.
Over here, Brian Carney is the best we have by a country mile - he should replace Eddie, with Jon Wells taking over from Stevo. The co-commentary roles could be filled by some players with recent experience - and I'd like to see that freshened up; the usual suspects are becoming dull. And on that note - maybe it's time to ditch the robots and refresh the programme presentation?

I was being sarcastic. The man only shows his face for the dollar. Learning or even reading the players names off a piece of paper might help him along the way.

| Eddie Waring for me. ( tongue firmly in cheek) Came up with absolute gems but the most poignant moment for me was after Don Fox missed THE conversion at Wembley against Leeds
Seriously I like Andy Kelly on the radio but it's Carney and Wells for me on sky

| My favourite gaff of Eddie Waring's was during a match from Headingly one windy Saturday afternoon. It went something like this: "Oh Dear! He's dropped the ball. (pause) Oh no, he hasn't. It's a white carrier bag!" Good old Eddie.
I also agree that Ray French was cringe worthy and seemed to concentrate on previous clubs that players had played for.

| BBC win hands down in the Uk. Give me Dave Woods, Brian Noble, Jon Wilkin & Jamie Peacock any day over the Sky numptys. Also Mark Chapman is an excellent host, knowledgeable & professional.
