| I understand why folk are saying that Fifita's error didn't cost us the game but it did really. Other errors were in the heat of the game before the match had been won when we still had to try things but Fifita's was just unnecessary. We'd got the game in the bag, he should have been taking his time, slowing the game down, running the clock down. It was poor game management (not necessarily Fifita's responsibility). Having said that - I still think he's great and has far more positives to his game than negatives.

| If Fifita cost us the game, Finn cost us at least a point by missing a conversion, in fact Patton kicking 3 instead of 2 won it for Wire, no scratch that, the groundsman won it by not whiting enough blades of grass to put lineham in touch, wait......what about ahvans beard, that must have effected something.....
This is the bonkers logic going around this thread as it disappears up its own 4rse
Its a team game, the game should never have been that close, the game WAS won by halftime, the thing should have been closed out, it wasn't, that's a team fault, when you put yourself as a team in that position, can happen, it could have been any of 13 on the pitch but it just happened to be Fifita.
It is depressingly non productive to analyze no deeper than Fifita cocked up and is solely responsible for the defeat.

Agree with the sentiment of the post but Finn was 4 from 4 with the boot.

He was 4 from 5, 3 conversions and a penalty, 1 missed conversion, I don't have to look it up I remember it happening and thinking at the time, we deserve the 6 tbf..
and Patrick Ah van doesn't even play for Wire, so that's one seriously influential cluster of curls right there...

I'd like to say Caton Brown is two players, but the truth is I watch a lot of RL and drink beer, fog is definitely a factor..

| Back on thread - I moan about insurance companies, energy suppliers and all other things that directly affect my life, why would the team I too have supported for just about 60 years escape ? Difference is that I am also quick to applaud (Not insurance companies!)
This season you only have to look at the for and against points to see we are not far away from being a very good team!

| I agree the team collectively are to blame for turning a win into defeat.
But fifita making the unnecessary error cost us that game. 100%. A calm controlled set of six and a kick would have seem us home.

But if Johnstone had scored that sitter - we'd have won; if Jowitt had made that tackle - we'd have won; if my Aunty had balls she'd be my Uncle.
Once incident without acknowledging the wider context of the entire game is not the way to assess performance in a team sport; I'm sure Chester didn't sit the lads down and lead a discussion on why it was Fifita's fault that we lost the game - and neither should we.
Has anyone seen the league table and compared that to where we predicted to be at this stage of the season?

| It's a bit like debating the number of angels that can fit on a pin head BUT..... the incidents with Jowitt and Johnson happened earlier in the game and it's impossible to know what the final result would have been if they hadn't happened. With Fifita, we were in control, there were three minutes left on the clock Fifita, the team, should have managed the situation better. I'm not bagging Fifita at all its more that I'm criticising the lack of on field leadership and game management that's caused us to lose games we could have won.

But those incident you quote didn't lead directly to the opposition going straight down the other end and scoring the winner.
The team performance in the wider context was pretty good. One error has undone it all. Again. Remember Wigan last season?
