| Quote FickleFingerOfFate="FickleFingerOfFate"You maybe right but a bit of light hearted recollection breaks up the day!
We had some good Aussies in the mid late 80's.
Bob Cowie, Russell Klein, Glen Stanton and Rowan Brennan.
To be fair, Stanton and Brennan were not bad and in Brennan's case pretty good.
Then I think in the 90's Mitch Brennan had signed a halfback called Jason Twist but never saw or heard owt else about him.'"
Russ Klein was a quality winger... And Queensland rep... Unfortunately we played him in every position but winger until the last few games of the season... When he moved to the wing and scored something like 5 tries in 3 games... Including a blockbusting effort at Bradford when he ran right through his opposite number.
Perhaps the most ineffective player ever to pull on the shirt was Paul Taylor... Who destroyed his cruciate ligament in one if his first touches of the ball in his first and last game.
Let's laugh at him!

| Was going to mention Paul Taylor, through no fault of his own was probably the most unlucky ineffective player.
Played well at Oldham though.
As for Klien, the only game I can remember him having a good one in was against Widnes at home.

| Quote Theboyem="Theboyem"7 GLEN TOMLINSON - A Batley legend he proved at Bradford that he wasn't really a superleague standard halfback, something he confirmed in a year long 5-game spell at Hull in 1998. So on our admission to superleague we signed him where he regularly hammered the point home.
.'"
Got to disagree re Tomlinson. If you ever get chance to watch the season review of that 1st year in Super League you'll see him responsible for a hell of a lot of good plays and scores in what was a reasonably good debut season back in the top flight.

| Quote Old Blighty="Old Blighty"No it's not productive and symptomatic of the malaise which sit around fans of the club at the moment....all of the players on this list are (probably) honest and hard working people who worked bloody hard to get a chance at a professional contract.'"
Cant see anything professional hard working or honest in Jarrod Hickey signing a contract in oz and coming over in a state akin to Bernard Manning - total disgrace to the vast majority of hard working honest professional rugby league players.

| I like this post. Maybe it will help me to purge my frustration, ease my soul and become less negative. Let's see. Les Tonks. Graeme Brown. The entire team of about 1999/ 2000 that got Andy Kelly sacked. The NZ players that blighted the 1987 season. The boards of nearly every era I have supported. In fact. lets face it, it has been the idiots in charge more than the players, who have been our most ineffective players. When Wally Lewis signed I have never seen 12 other players look so inept. But Toppo did quite a good job of that at times too. I will leave the current squad out as it has been said.

| Quote Jason="Jason"You have cheered me up reading this. How many of these players did James Elston preside over?
My three.
Simon Longstaff.
Jules ONeil. When I saw him smoking after an away game at hull my mind was made up.
Jarrod Hickey. When he ran on to make his debut away at Salford I was quite frankly embarrassed.'"

| Looking at the modern era and just viewing his appearance, I have never been as gob smacked as seeing Jarrod Hickey and the way he turfed up at Belle Vue like a boozer off the street on a kebab diet. Astonishing and he must take the prize, all matters considered, The Golden Turd!
