| IMG are widely reported to be splitting the league into two after next season which obviously means we will be in the second tier along with a couple more teams that are now in the top tier . So looking forwards it may not be the death knell of our club like some imagine , and could even lead to a brighter future than the one we are looking at right now

| Quote ball-in-hand="ball-in-hand"I am guessing that big spending Leigh will be promoted and Featherstone having thrown loads of cash at trying to get promoted this year will have little money left for next season.'"
As has been said on here after next season it's supposedly going to 2 divisions anyway, assuming that Leigh win promotion to super league next season, do you think they have a realistic chance of staying in the top tier the year after, I only mention this in the context of your post regarding for me they're imminent promotion this season.

| Quote Scarlet Pimpernell="Scarlet Pimpernell"I regret that relegation will mean the automatic reduction in support which is natural. =#FF0000To minimise the long term impact the club will need to be looking to get back into SL in the first season but I seriously doubt we have the finances to do so. The longer we are in the wilderness the harder it gets to escape and if we did then you have to hope we are good enough not to come straight back down.
With regards the quality of the squad, you think we were the dumping ground in SL just imagine the standard we will have in the championship. If any of our younger player show any promise then the temptation will be to liquidate the asset to generate income knowing they will want to leave to better themselves.'"
It wont happen anyway....
League reform for 2024 - SL1 & SL2.....
Even if we won the Championship they'd stick us SL2.......

| If you are right that the championship winners next season will be in SL 2 then the only thing to play for is to get in the top 8 . The bottom 4 will be written off altogether. How is this progress. Presumably teams like Whitehaven Dewsbury Keithley and Oldham with all their history are going to be ababdoned

| People all over saying RL is dying in this country for various reasons , along come a global player to kick us dragging and screaming into the future and we still moan . Be hopes to god they don’t talk to fans first as they are supposedly doing , they’ll probably just walk away and leave us as the basket case we are in this country .

| Quote Prince Buster="Prince Buster"Sorry but you are dreaming !!
Murphy and Hall have promising SL careers infront of them.
One or two others will get full time contracts at other clubs.
One or two of the young ones will get picked up by SL clubs.
The rest would have to be prepared to either play part time or retire.
I think you are in for an almighty shock.'"
I think your underestimating what may be possible somewhat. If we remove the large salaries and work to a salary model we could likely build a starting 17-21 full time players with a subsequent 7 or so academy/part time players.
You wouldn’t be talking 60/70 k contracts but more in the region of 25-40k which would appeal to players like Murphy/Kershaw etc.
I think we are at our rock bottom almost attendence wise yet vs Toulouse we still pulled 3.5k almost. I could see us still raising above 3k regularly in the championship if we build a competitive squad.

| Perhaps i'm missing something here, but i've mentioned SL1 and SL2 before and touched on whether they will be closed shops or open to promotion and relegation. There is also the issue of funding and percentages.Any thoughts?

| I don't agree that the sport is dying. Attendances are down because people haven't any money. Young men and women still want to play the game . Spectators will go and watch it if the price is right. The product is still great . Players are not going to be able to ask for 6 figure saleries anymore and clubs need to stop wasting money in second rate Aussies. Our best players may get lures by the Aussie dollar but recent experience says they only stay one or two seasons then come back

| Quote lampyboy="lampyboy"You can forget any thoughts of a return to SL should we be relegated.
Mr Carter will plan his expenditure based on gates of around 2.5 to 3 thousand, no surprise signings in store.
=#FF0000Getting back in to SL would be expensive and not entertained by Mr closed pockets.'"
Have you ever heard the phrase "You don't bite the hand that feeds you??"
If it wasn't for MC stepping in when he did and steadying the ship, we wouldn't even have a club left to support...he has kept us going through some very difficult seasons and has financed what he can afford to finance, without risking his family's future...would you or any other of his detractors on here have done the same if you were in his position ??
John Minnards has clearly had some significant financial input in the past couple of years too, but unfortunately for us, neither of them has the same financial clout as the likes of Davy, Lenaghan, McManus, Caddick, Pearson, Beaumont, etc etc.
Like us minions on here, they are both obviously huge Trinity fans, but unlike us they took the huge step to invest in the club, which is something we can only dream of doing (see the Euromillions thread), and they have clearly financed what they can afford to finance and don't have bottomless pockets, so until someone does come along with money to burn, it would appear that they will continue to finance what is affordable to them !!
So to call MC "Mr Closed Pockets", I find totally disrespectful and grossly unfair

| Agree with last posts. They have made some mistakes along the way, (who wouldn't),but without them we probably wouldn't have a club to support.A shame that just as the ground plans are coming to fruition relegation looms.

We are not there yet, but more likely we will be. Lets see shall we.
By the way if you seriously think Murphy will stick with us for £40k in the championsip, you are not very complimentary about his worth.
The guy is talented and every other SL club will be aware, he will walk into a team on double that
