That's a mistake, he's classed as a utility back - has played most of his rugby in the halves or at fullback as I said before.

He's played just about everywhere except prop (including loose forward against us on boxing day 2012) but hasn't played much at stand off for the academy at Leeds as Liam Sutcliffe got that gig more often than not. Although to be fair Briscoe didn't play much at all last year because of injury. He's been a bit of a jack of all trades up to press, he probably needs to find his position and settle into it. If that is to be stand off great, but I don't think thats what we have brought him in to be going by Agars quotes and given our lack of cover in the backs.

From what I've read about Briscoe he is a naturally gifted player that Hull were upset to lose to Leeds, who can play a number of positions in backs but also has some strength so may well be suited to be a running creative foil to Godinet should Sykes not start showing the form needed at that position.



I'd rather try Briscoe there as back up to Sykes than Lee Smith or Washbrook...Agar probably was hoping the imports would already be here including Siejka.

Every time I saw his name on the team sheet at hull he was at 6 ? I'm not saying I want agar to play him there and I agree with you on that front I don't think that's why Agars brought him in at all. I'm just stating facts that he can and has played at 6 a lot.

Foxy has had all the time in the world to prove he is an average winger and nothing more. Briscoe has hadl few chances so far and has plenty of time yet and that's the point.

Anyway moving on i hope he comes as we look short in halfback cover and as has been said the likelihood is that the aussie lad is likely to be a better bet at stand off than any of our young english back up options.

Also Ellery Hanley, Garry Schofield, Jonathon Davies,Andy Farrell etc.....if they are good enough they adapt and find their place running the game at 6...

And even our current stand off Paul Sykes! I know how often it happens hence in my post joking about putting Foxy there i referred to the best position shifter of them all in this case, Darren Lockyer. I'm sure young Briscoe could play stand off, the question purely is would we want a 19 year old kid who hasn't played in the position since he was at Hull 3 seasons ago to be our main back up half? Personally i hope the move for Siejka comes off as Agar obviously wants him and feels that he would be the better option. Who are we to argue with him?

Yes I agree. Just hope we get Siejka for the additional pivot option and we are competitive throughout the season.Last season showed when Sykes got injured we really struggled due to lack of competition or cover at stand off.
