| This is a brutal situation for Kear - how do you legislate for losing three players, one of whom you have built a squad around, two of whom were signed to strengthen. The hard yards are harder to come by without a Tronc (or Stosic). Our halves struggle without that same platform, not least when none of those halves are natural scrum halves, a huge hole left by Danny Brough. Our hands were tied with Brough; we did the right thing to let him go but we didn't get like for like as payment which was never going to happen anyway. Who could we sign at this part of the year? But that leaves us without a quality kicking game and the nous to get over the line. Creativity and pace are suddenly gone. Cooke? He's been poor. Never a Brough replacement though, and was never meant to be. Obst, Jeffries and Cooke are faced with responsibility that doesn't suit their games. The revolving door must be crippling to confidence in the camp.
It's helped less when you have all the field position to win a game several times over and keep dropping the ball or executing passes and kicks poorly. That's not Kear's fault. He has so few options left. For probably the only time I'll agree with NGB4C that we need a scrum half and a prop to give us some stability and attacking edge but I fail to see where they'll come from at this point in time...

Strange things happen in Footy. The situation at Melbourne is going to be interesting in that quite a few players will have to be off loaded and quick. This may lead to other clubs cutting players to try and make room for whoever comes on the market and we are a club that has space both in cap and overseas spot. So you never know.

| Quote TURFEDOUT="TURFEDOUT"Not a knee jerk reaction, but that was quite frankly appalling.
Not because we lost, not because we lack any creativity, not because our discipline is shocking, not because we are defensively poor, not even just because we are playing consistently garbage.
I totally accept that we have a pretty average squad and we are stuck with it.
But because the players appear to lack any motivation and are just going through the motions.
The key motivator for me is the coach and the last three games have shown this is seriously lacking.
Time for a change.'"
what a right load of bull if we sack JK we may as well call it a day and go plant bloody turnips at Belle Vue

| This thread is way off the mark. Take last nights game - 2 or 3 decisions go the other way or 2 or 3 passes that were bombed are nailed and we win by 18.
Kear sent the team out to play to a pattern that was sufficient to create the chances which, had execution been good, would have delivered a handsome win. Ergo his tactics, whilst not the most attractive, were good enough.
On another day Gleeson catches the 2nd half bomb cleanly and dives over, Cook puts the ball to George's hands not feet and we score, the 50 / 50 decision re the 2nd Whiteing try goes our way. Under these circumstances our season is back on track.
This raises the question of what Kear can do to improve the teams execution - do we really feel the team are under prepaird? I don't.
Don't panic. Things have been much wose than this before. I have all the faith in the world that the best person to resurect our season is JK. Get real people.

Now then steve how is Brett getting on these days??
Some one with an obvious dislike for Ferres, simple fact SF would not have hung around for long, he never does. The next fact France's would have spent moremoney

| Nonsense. What could we get or afford that's any better? Not the most attractive of jobs. Everyone seems to be agreed that it's quality players that are lacking and the problem with getting them is cash, so how stupid to sack the coach and pay him off spending yet more money we don't have and not improving the team.
Need to buy some quality personnel for on the field for JK to work with.

| I have read some dross on this site before but this tops the lot!
The problems on the field are nothing to do with Kear. He is doing the best with what he has.
Yes we need better players if we want to move up the league....like everybody else
Yes we have been really hurt by our key players leaving....which they are trying to fix, but you can't just magic them up from nowhere.
I wish all the people popping out of the woodwork to have a go at Kear would turn up to the games too. We'd have no problem with crowds by the looks of things here.
We could even have an idiots pen so they acn all stick together.
Support the team. That's what is needed. No more no less

That would surely depend on what we are actually paying Kear.

| Quote Prince Buster="Prince Buster"Well I know the full details of Brough leaving and at the time considereing all the circumstances I would have done the same. The mistake we made was listening to JK and thinking Paul cooke would go someway to filling the gap.'"
P.B
Here lies the problem, with me, and a number of other fans.
We are not party to all the facts. All we see is a team that now appears rudderless.
Whilst I would never expect you to betray your confidence, the release of DB has put the club back six months. I just hope the reasons are fully justified, because, the damage done by this decision, is evident to all.
