I agree, but would be great to have in the squad as correct positional back-up rather then make shift cover we are used to.
What is great is that our wingers are very young so they should be relatively injury resistant.

| If he doesn't get with another SL team, then perhaps he would take a carefully worded no risk to the club type of contract, or even a month by month one.
It could be a win win move, as he has much to offer if/when fit.

| When we first signed Mark i was sceptical to say the least but he won me over in his first season due to his work ethic on the pitch. When others were being questioned his commitment was never in doubt.
However last season with the poor run of injuries I can fully understand why the club have not signed him up again and with our track record it would be lunacy to have done so.
HOWEVER
If he cannot get a contract at another SL club a speculative offer from the club could well be met with a favourable response.

| Quote Wellsy13="Wellsy13"Sport is a business at the end of the day, and if he can't prove he's up to it then he's going to have to find a new profession. That's the risk when you're a professional sportsman.
I'd love Hull to sign him up, but only on a small wage or a pay-as-you-play. But I don't think that would be in Mark's best interests to be honest.[u When fit, I'd definitely start him every week.[/u'"
Completely agree. Calderwood and Sharp on the wing, Yeaman and Briscoe at centre. Gutted for him. My favourite player when fit. That last play of his to chase a lost cause for that kick for Berro in the derby summed him up perfectly.

agree on all points.
if he can prove his fitness and we have no other signings in the pipeline i'd like to see him offered a vastly reduced 1 year deal. His efforts in 2009 while many around him coulden't have cared less won't be forgotten.

| a pay-as-you-play deal if he can't get another SL club would be a very wise and shrewd move by the club and perhaps the best Calders could hope for by the looks of it. Still, there'll no doubt be quite a few more players being signed up between now and February in SL so ho hum.

| I would imagine he'd get a contract somewhere. He's too good not too.
I just hope he doesn't end up somewhere like Crusaders, he's better than that. Maybe Cas?

Watched that recently, I can't think of many players around in any position that would chase a ball down with such cause. His never give up attitude was awesome.
