The success of McCrone's switch from the halves to hooker, and whether he sees his long-term future there, is likely to be s big factor in his decision. McCrone played 105 games for Canberra in the halves before switching to a bench hooker role this year under Stuart.
"It's very preliminary talks at the moment," said McCrone's manager Steve Gillis. "I've had a few chats with Ricky but I certainly haven't started any negotiations of any kind.
"He likes it there and the club's been good to him, I think there'd be a reasonable chance he'd stay.
"A lot depends on circumstances surrounding where he fits best into the team, and where he wants to play.
"He's like anyone, he'd probably like more game time but he's contributing well when he gets on there, and doing his bit to help the side.
"We haven't really looked outside the Raiders at all. We'll talk to them first, see where things are at and hopefully it all works out well.''
