| Quote Mild mannered Janitor="Mild mannered Janitor"Crooks is way better at the moment, the evidence is clear to see on the pitch.
The problem some have is emotional attachment to certain players. Yeaman is a decent player, but not the player some would like to make out. You cannot argue with his defensive qualities, but no one is arguing that. The point if the thread is that a player with 12 years experience STILL cannot draw a defender and utilise supporting players.
Arundal had a poor start to his Hull career, but the signs were there to see that he was definitely going in the right direction. His performance at Salford, prior to his injury was very good.
[u[iIf there is to be genuine competition for places, then errors like Yeamans have to be put under the microscope.[/i[/u'"
Nobody is disputing the fact that there should be competition for places. However, 18 pages of fans opinions is not going to make one jot of difference to PG's thinking, however important posters think their views are.

| Quote east hull FC fan="east hull FC fan"I've no problem with people criticising Kirk, it's just the aggressive tone some people use. There's a fine line between critiquing, like you are, and just blatantly slagging someone off as others are.
There's a wider issue around some of our fans and an almost pre-meditated opinion on some of our players going both ways. Westerman gets some shocking treatment from some of our fans, at the other end of the scale is Whiting, who can never do wrong.'"
Completely agree.

| Quote GM1="GM1"Am I missing something? What is all this talk about Yeaman covering Briscoe's defensive duties all night?'"
Briscoe picked up a couple of knocks and should have been replaced by rights.
But with Green and O'Meley unable to return we didn't have options.
Yeaman was trying to limit Briscoe being exposed and i think this was the reason Leeds made the break between him and Ellis for their try. Yeaman makes a dash to his left but when realising the pass wasn't made he tried to step back to his right and slipped missing the tackle in the process.

I posted a similar sentiment on page 4, but i suppose if Yeamo had stepped inside and died with the ball then people would be happier ...not me i would rather see an attempt to promote some positive and exciting play.
I've been a critic for years of him not putting his winger away. This time he tried to keep the move going once he knew he was not going to make it on his own, it didn't work, but this is how i want to see us playing, with some flair and confidence.
Do we want 80% performances and leeping it safe, or do we want them team to push themselves, try things and create some memories.
With the first you get the Agar era, with the second you get some errors but you also get some amazing tries

He didn't have to try and make it on his own.
He had broke through and the simple thing to do would be to draw the full back and put one of the supporting players on the inside over for a try.
Nothing to do with playing with flair and confidence. That he showed when making the break.

No, but there is a 'catch the ball around your ankles whilst on the move' one.
Not that I'm personally going to criticise Pitts for it, but it was an error, and one that we do have a practice drill for, so it was a valid point.

This. It's a been a weakness in his game throughout his career, but I've always thought it's more about the incorrect reading of the situation rather than making the wrong choice (either intentionally or not).

| Quote I, on another thread,="I, on another thread,"With Yeaman, I think people are going a bit OTT for tonight. Yes, he should have passed, and yes, it was his miss for the try, but people should bear in mind that he was carrying the vast majority of Briscoe's defensive and bringing the ball out work for 60 minutes. People make the case that Briscoe struggles because he doesn't have a good centre, but nobody's made the reverse point for Yeaman tonight. He played that centre/wing practically on his own for an hour and conceded only 6 points, that's some going in my book.
Not having a good season, but has been better since coming back from injury than he was at the start of the season.'"
Think this is more appropriate in here.

Does the drill include the ball getting to you on the bounce?
I wouldn't have expected anyone to pick that up TBH. It would have been a miracle take. What I would say is that Pitts would have been better off hacking it forward rather than trying to pick it up.

Thanks (!) for clearing that up for us Hessle Roader! I was wondering where my pay cheque was!

As you say, it was a pretty much an impossible take from a lob, rather than a pass. Those saying Pitts should have taken it are just been plain daft imo.

The ball was just below Pitts' knee, same position as Westerman's and Pitts had far more time to react. I'm disappointed that Pitts didn't still convert the chance, as Pitts is, I'm sure.

You really need to look again, a professional player should take that more often than not, as Westy proved.
