we we're poor, you desreved to win, but only managed it by a late penalty, at least we can improve

Your original post implied that we can't/won't improve?
There is nothing in the way we played last night that suggests we will play like that against the teams you have mentioned. I've watched us in all four games to date and we have played differently on all four occasions....surely it's a much about how the opposition make you play? We ran riot last week against Widnes due in part to their inept structure, last night was completely different for obvious reasons. One thing we are slowly escaping from is being one dimensional in attack, which we were under your current Director of Rugby or whatever title McRae holds.
I very much doubt you will beat any of your listed sides if you play the same way as you did last night, however, I cannot vouch for how you can improve or if you will as I don't watch you week in week out.
I'm sure there is more to come from both sides this season which can only be good for the league surely.

At the end of the day, anybody is capable of winning if they hit the right form, this is how it should be with the wage cap system.
I can`t comment on the game as I was not there, but losing by just two points maybe suggests we arn`t that too far away?

| I can't believe we lost the game. They played better attacking rugby but we were always in control. Penalties killed us, at the start of the second half when we need to score again we gave away two pens both on the 5th tackle and this turned the game.
Defensively we were sound but our attack is still misfiring, the timing is still out and we still lack ideas in the final third. My biggest issue is the opposition thrid is we do everything too slowly. Even a basic play done at pace can work (Hall and Rovers did this in preseason). We do lack pace in the middle of the pitch which hinders us.
The set that cost us the game was dumb. We were on our 40 and did nothing but drive in one out plays for 5 tackles, which seemed to say we were taking the draw. However on the halfway line we then put in a silly chip kick which was never gonna work and we turned the ball over in the wrong area.
The other big play was going 22-16 up and then losing a scrum on half against the head which they scored from.
We need to wise up but there are enough positive signs so far.

Nail on head. We have too many dumb players. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Until we have a bigger nucleus of players that have some grey matter between their ears we will continue to get a laboured execution of whatever plans the coaches create. Future signings need to major on intelligence , vitality and just a bit of bloody mindedness.

| When PG took over he said one of his goals was to reduce the gap in the quality of our performances. Well after that lacklustre performance he's got his work cut out for him.
Years ago I used to get really pi$$ed off with performances like that. Not so much these days but friday has really got me down.

| Just about recovered from Friday!! We threw that game away, yea Salford were definitely up for it and Longy must have had them fired up BUT things like losing our head and feed and really stupid mistakes have to be sorted. We need to calm down on the oppositions 20, let them panic. I have full faith that Peter Gentle will sort things and get us playing "his" way, watch us go against Wakey this week, no mercy!!!
