| Quote Kosh="Kosh"Anyway - sacking Agar only makes sense if there's someone better to take over. And we all know it would be Sharp, who might well be worse.'"
Who could make the club pick up for a spell, get an extended contract then this time next year we are back here again.
For me i credit Agar with our revival and getting to the GF in 2006, when he had the resources to. Yes some of his decisions and selections may be questionable but is it another case were the coach is not getting as much support from above as he should

| Quote jordanp="jordanp"I didnt think Agar was the right man for the job at the time he was appointed and I still dont, although I would like to see a more positive attacking approach that certain coaches would bring, results wise I dont think anyone could come in and make a dramatic difference with the very poor squad we have, let alone Jon Sharp, and lets face it he is the coach after Agar anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves, in my opinion there is no point in wasting money that could be better spent on better players paying Agar off.'"
Sorry, my mistake. Didn't realise we should settle for mediocrity because finding an alternative may need some effort

| Put it this way, if Agar resigned/sacked and on the other side of the world Wayne Bennett did the same , who would be the next coach of Hull ?
Exactly
But the upside to that is we would be able to flog the Sharpy Says Relax T Shirts again

Thats the reality though, the board would not go out and appoint a top class coach while Jon Sharp is already here, it would be so much cheaper, and as I say I dont think any coach could come in and turn things around drastically in the short term, we need quality building and recruitment over a number of years.

I don't. And funnily enough, neither does he. The players did that pretty much under their own steam after deliberately getting shot of Kear.
How much support from the board does Agar need to pick the right players? How much support does he need to get his tactics right? How much support does he need to pick the right bench and use his interchanges correctly?
The only way 'support from above' could come into it would be if players aren't doing what they're told and aren't being disciplined for it.

| End of the season when (if) his new recruits for this year are on board and we've secured a new top scrum half/captain/organiser. Obviously if things haven't worked out by then decisions will have to be made. Absolutely pointless sacking him in advance of that. Pointless.

| Do you think its a coincidence that both ourselves and Leeds are going through a bit of a slump at the minute when we are both under the same Hetherington umbrella. The problems are much deeper than the coach, I do believe that Agar has one arm tied behind his back in some respects and for the last 5 years or so i dont think the coach has had the complete freedom to pick his team. I think its always a case os Vig brother is watching you so a more cautious approach is adopted. Where as at Saints for example full confidence is put into the coach and i think this is reflected in the players performance on the field.
