That penalty is regularly given incorrectly - it's surprising how easily referees are conned.

Not to mention RL coaches. John Kear said it was a valid penalty too.

At the moment when the Salford player played the ball with his foot DH was not square. Watch it again. split second decision and 9 times out of ten wouldnt be given, they played for it, fair play to em.

If your not square when the ball is played are you basically out of the game until the next tackle? Or until you get back to being square or until youve got back the 10?



When the ball is played, Houghton is standing next to the tackled man and he isn't even close to square. However he does get back to square before he gets involved.

AFAIK if you're not square when the ball is played you have to retreat the 10 before you can get involved with play. Although a lot of the time you will see players just get square and the ref will let it go.

That is correct, you have to retreat the 10 before you can take part in any tackle if you where not square at the PTB.

Ah. I thought he just had to get square, which he did about a second after the ball was played. Whilst it may have been technically correct, I wonder how many of those types of incident had been let go during the course of that game alone.

We actually said he wouldn't give a penalty in the last few minutes unless it was blatant but he managed to come up with that one just to prove us wrong. Consistently inconsistent.

Been away so didn't get to the game or listen to it but appears we were pretty shoite on the night and still only lost to a penalty in the last few minutes.



Anyone expecting us to be suddenly the finished article has no concept of how bad things were under the last lot or how poor our squad actually is
