I think someone needs to explain to me exactly what the LF role is in our team and who plays it. Thanks in advance.

So if that's the role why the frick would anyone want Westerman to play that role?



IMO we have been playing with 3 probs and Fitz has been asked to provide limited options as an extra passer of the ball. More recently Westerman has been asked to provide that additional passing and also kicking option. Now to me the role of the LF is a forward that provides an extra passing and kicking option. The player that most closely fits that role is Westerman, the fact he wasn't trundling the ball down the middle all match just means he wasn't playing the additional prop role. It is possible to take on the Attacking role of the LF whilst primarily occupying the right channel.

Wherever he's been playing, westerman seems to have had his hands on the ball more in the last couple of games and has looked impressive IMO

What I'm getting at is that people seem to believe that because Westerman was named at 13 we had changed our tactics. You hardly came across as knowing that yourself, until now. Although the cynic in me could think that you're back tracking.





For me, Fitz is not asked to provide any options as an extra passer, I think he does it off his own back to try and help.

Also for me, the attacking role of the loose forward has been replaced by the modern day FB, this includes attacking down [iboth[/i sides, not just one. Westerman has not changed the way he's played all season and is coming back to the form he had before his injury. He's playing right sided 2nd row, and doing a good job.

No back tracking here. Fitz doesn't end up as a passing option by accident it's clearly a planned move (so planned and slow that the oppo can see it coming a mile off). Westerman has changed the way he plays in the last month or so, he is seeing far more of the ball and providing more passing and kicking options than he was at the start of the season. I'm not saying he is/was the LF in the strictest sense but he is now providing the more traditional LF role/attributes all be it from the right channel. The fact he isn't being asked to hit it up down the middle and tackle the big men is actually smart tactics IMO.

Westy's defence isn't good enough for the middle channel anyway. He was becoming more involved before he got injured early April time. Hope he continues, as the last 3 games he's been our best player.

Can I just make it clear I am not having a go at or about anyone, I am just stating that Westerman and Fitz have both been playing well the last few weeks, I don't know the reason why, but I do know the reason isn't because Fitzy has played prop and westerman has played 13 because they havnt! They have both been playing the same roles as normal....just better!!
