Which told us nothing about how good of a conditioner he is. Just that he is one.

Exactly.
But more importantly that Doncaster under-performed and he is a Howes man.
He is also only half qualified in comparison to every other Conditioner in SL except perhaps Billy Mallison who's qualifications I do not know anything about.

Exactly! Which is why, I think, as long as he is good enough I don't care if he was a poor rate rugby player.
Bomber is also a 'Howes man'. As is Gareth Ellis .

| I don't buy into this, somebody only having half/uncompleted the required qualification as a conditioner should not be on our radar, it goes against everything that AP is about in having the best to work for the club. The source of the info could well have been a little suspicious, and the suggestion that he got the job because he is a 'mate' of JR is equally ridiculous.
IF itis true, then it beggars belief employing someone of the standard he is at.

The link to his LinkedIn profile is genuine and he's listed himself as having the job. I doubt he'd do that for the giggles.
Not sure what to make of this myself and will reserve judgement until we've seen what he can do with the squad. Not exactly underwhelmed but pretty close to it TBH. Preferable to having Malinson back, mind.

I'll second that. Also pretty underwhelmed after the Jennings rumour which I'd heard from a club employee and then it was all over the message boards. Still believe that he will be one of a few backroom additions though.

Have to admit that is my worry, three management signings and all from Howes? Hmm.
Hope this guy does well but on the face of it it's a poor appointment. Get the pre-season wrong and you can kiss goodbye to any success.

| Apparently, given his connections within Irish RU, Devlin was hoping to get a newly-created position working with the Leinster Academy players but was surprisingly overlooked in favour of someone from a GAA background.
The Hull FC job came out of the blue and coincided quickly with his joining of Howest Etc.
He will no doubt be an acquintance of James Rule from English counties/Yorkshire RU circles.
It's something of a risk appointing him. Devlin has been out of professional RL a long time and even elite RU players require a different conditioning regime anyway, nevermind the mainly part-time, low grade, players Devlin is used to!
Speaking of Howes. His website his making a big play of 'aiding Hull FC's makeover' by negotiating the appointment of McCrae and Gentle. Not sure if there is any truth in it, but I've heard that he is attempting to get another client - Nigel Wright - on the club's backroom staff.
