| Bengal on Chants is my fave. The Raj used to be the dogs but I reckon its lost some of its charm since it first opened.
There is also a very good one in Ottringham (used to be the White Horse Pub, sign o' the times) on the way to the coast but dont go in winter its bleedin' freezing.

| Quote Dr Hfuhruhurr="Dr Hfuhruhurr"Using the same Indian cook book for twenty years helps, I have a cupboard full of the core ingredients/spices, knowing they will all be used. There’s nothing worse then going out of your way and buying a load of stuff that you use once and ends up going out of date.
Anyway, if you’re serious about a few recipes I’ll PM them to you by all means. However, finding any without garlic will be a challenge (most of the dishes use a ‘gravy’ based on onion, garlic and ginger)!'"
I made a really nice yoghurt based fish curry last night. Like you say it's only worth buying all the spices etc if you do a lot of cooking and will use them again.

| Bombay Tandoori in Analaby is worth a look. I'd recommend the south indian thali that they do.
You can also order online from them via [url=http://hungryhouse.co.uk/bombay-tandoori-hu4Hungryhouse[/url

I have most of the 'core ingredients'. Chicken curry is my favourite and if you have any decent recipe's...PM away.
Thanks in advance.

| The £17 a head banquet meal at Raj is good value.
We had that on Saturday night. Me and my mate both took a doggy bag of what was left home. Made a good breakfast for me and the wife !

The secret is the base sauce you need for all indian curries. Its basically an onion, ginger and garlic pulp with turmaric.
Get "The Curry Secret" by Kris Dillon. Follow his methods to the letter and you cannot go wrong.

Time consuming and smelly, but well worth it. Make a big batch and freeze it. I got it for xmas and i've done 3 curries out of there with stunning results, and the pilau rice was the top notch. It's amazing how few ingredients you need really.

I have to disagree with that, I thought it was great, cracking value and great selection. Only problem with Curry is that they could to do raise the temperatures on the bain maries though.

As Besty says, the results are amazing. Just make sure you follow it to the letter. Allow yourself the previous night to do the base sauce and make a shed load of it for the freezer. The Rogan Josh is fab.

When trying to look clever it's best to know your subject, I doubt the Curry is served in a water bath.
