| Quote WireWonder="WireWonder"2 disasterous showings against 'mighty' Leigh and a home defeat to that huge team Hunslet show everyone that Widnes should have their SL licence revoked. If these sort of sides can see off them easily, imagine what the big clubs like Warrington will do to them?
Widnes are already booked in for the wooden spoon throughout their 3 year stay in SL.
I'm sure the hapless 'Vikings' fans will say they will have the money to get better players, but they aren't a big enough club to attract big names.
Letting this current garbage Widnes side in with the big boys like Wire,Saints,Wigan etc makes a mockery of our sport. Get shut of this licence system and bring back relegation and promotion.'"
Do you not think that Widnes will not make any signings before the start of next season?
You are an ignoramus,- look it up if you do not know what it means.
You do not have to be a club in a larger town to attract big names --- Jonathan Davies, Martin Offiah, Kurt Sorensen spring to mind immediately.
How have Warrington done on their last two outings?

Quote Faxhali="Faxhali"Lockyer was asked to come to widnes but will not come out of retirement, and says he does not want to travel with his youngster in tow.

They are already trying to build for the future, And as it stands right now they are guarenteed one in SL for 3 years, Can anyone else in SL claim the same right now ?. NO !!!!'"
Good post.
Everyone in the civilised world, and even in some parts of Warrington realise that, with a salary cap of £1.6 millions, Widnes will have a far better team in 2012.

When Widnes were acquiring those sort of players in the late 80s they did it by spending money they didn't have. That's why we regard the success Widnes had back then as false.
What happened when your financial difficulties kicked in shortly after and you had to get rid of all those players? As a club you sunk without trace.
I stand by what i said, even in Super League Widnes will seriously struggle to attract big name, quality players. An over the hill Lockyer has already binned you off.

| Quote Old Viking="Old Viking"Most Widnes fans believe that promotion a relegation should come back, subject to certain basic requirements. When Widnes -- who had been the most successful club in the past two decades -- were denied entry to SL in favour of clubs such as Oldham, Workington, and Warrington, many of the game's pundits were disappointed. When they did get in for three years they were removed to make way for Catalans, and did not get relegated.
The RFL brought in the licensing system and insisted on certain criteria to get into SL and were prepared to exclude clubs who did not meet that criteria, and clubs had to live with that. That is why Warrington now play at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and not Wilderspool.
Widnes met the criteria and have gained a licence.
Two Challenge Cup wins, even back to back ones, still do not make Warrington as big a club than some of the others outside SL, who have more knowledgeable supporters [if you are an example of a Warrington Supporter and I will instance Halifax, Leigh, Featherstone, and Swinton.'"
Apart from Wigan, name me any clubs in England that are bigger than the mighty Wire.

Wigan, Saints, Bradford, Leeds & Widnes you know sides who won the league and followed it up by being named World Champions?
You reckon your the 2nd biggest club in the game yet haven't won the league in how many years?

| Tbf (if he is one) wire fans like that only retract from what their club has actually achieved!
Rather than relishing that they are growing into one of the top sides in SL and have two brilliant back to back cup kings they come out stating they are the greatest side ever, last season were telling Wigan they were finished and this year the same to Saints and some unbelievable comments on those sides top players being rubbish.
Just enjoy success and hope it continues. No-one likes an arrogant winner just as much as a sore loser!
