I’m not so sure that that was ever going to be an option. Once it was known that Wakey had a serious buyer, the RFL would have ensured that Wakey competed in SL this season. It would have been a total embarrassment for them to come cap in hand to Widnes after they turned us down last time. It would show just what a joke the last round of licencing was.



There is no way, full-time training or not, that this current Widnes team could compete with anyone in SL, imo.

Ask this of four other clubs in the Championship first - probably the ones that constantly finish above you in the league.
