On a more serious note I do think we give ex-players an easy ride when they come back. We still had fans cheering Charnley years after he played 5 or 6 games for us. We need to make CP as intimidating as possible, which I don't think will be a problem with Burns, rile him up and he'll lose his head.

The "applause " for Charnley is embarrasing. 5 games on loan does not constitute a Rovers career to be celebrated. The contrast on Friday will be the warm up reception given to Burns & Wilkin respectively. Indeed, if Burns has any sense he will run out & warm up next to Jon.



Most ex-players are well received at Rovers, unless they are in B&W (yes Paea I'm talking about you), but we can break that rule for someone as odious as Mr Burns.

Always makes me cringe. We need to get that old chant going. For example " burnsy burnsy gives us a wave burnsy give us a wave " If they do then quickly follow it up with "eff off burnsy eff of burnsy"

. Haven't heard it for years so you may not know what I'm going on about!

If it's a close game and Burns isn't playing well, he'll see red.

I'd imagine Charnley continues to get a positive reception due to the continuous rumours he's fallen our of favour @ Wigan and he's coming back to us.

It Depends on what the fans might think of the way he slated the clubs professionalism at the end of his stay with the club, plus his apparent antics in the dressing room, there were certainly quite a few strong rumors suggesting that he caused some disruption in the dressing room last season.

He told a friend of mine at the end of last season just before he left to join St Helen's, that Rovers would never win anything because they were not professional enough, Could it be that he was a little bitter about the fact that Rovers would only offer him a one year deal when he wanted two or three.

He is a Saints player, end of story.

Are we not allowed to talk about ex-players? Do we ignore topics about ex-players when fans of their new clubs ask about them?

Tbf, if by professionalism he meant resource, the chairman himself has indicated that silverware remains a distant prospect. That we're not set up to challenge the hegemony of the richest clubs is hardly a startling or insulting comment.

And if by professionalism, he meant professionalism then discipline was acknowledged as an issue. Everybody at the club bears some responsibility for that - not least the captain, actually.



Aggressive terrier types are not really my thing, but I thought he was a good player for us. We got a fee, he got his longer contract - all easy enough to move on from.

For me he gave 100% when he played the same way cockayne does burns caused problems in the dressing room allegedly cockayne caused a lot of problems for the club with his off field antics yet ones treated like a god and the other by the sounds of it is going to get a bad reception doesn't really make sense to me
