Salford were fined and appealed. The fine was halved but 2 points were deducted as well.
So the precedent is that we could get a fine and then the best advice would say take it on the chin and pay. The points deduction is only a precedent if a club appeals.

| Quote The RFL="The RFL"Salford City Reds have been docked two competition points and fined £5,000 by an RFL Operational Rules Appeals Tribunal for fielding 14 players during a Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers on Saturday April 27.
The Tribunal handed down the increased sanction after rejecting Salford’s appeal against the original fine of £10,000 imposed at a hearing on May 8.
Salford were deemed to be in breach of Operational Rules B1.1 (General Competition Rules - Laws of the Game); B2:4 (Match Day Operations Manual (section D15 – Interchange); and D1.8 (a) (serious or persistent breach of the RFL Operational Rules).
The sanction relates to an incident in the 77th minute of the match when Salford player Darrell Griffin and the player who was replacing him from the interchange bench, Vic Mauro, both became involved in tackles whilst the club had 14 players on the field of play. Salford won the fixture 34-30'"

THEY ARE NOT CONTROLLED BY A 4TH OFFICIAL...... NO OFFICIAL OF ANY SORT SAYS YES OR NO TO ENTERING THE PITCH..
it is controlled by the TEAMS.... NOT the Ref, NOT the linesman, NOT the reserve ref, NOT the time keeper and NOT the Match commissioner...
THIS IS WHY TEAMS FALL FOUL OF THE RULE....... but lets not let a fact get in the way eh!!!! |
