The owner of Fev has not missed a Reserve away game all year and even took the lads for a feed and a few beers after Whitehaven away at his own expense. He paid £20,000ish to take the first team to Martbella and is at every training session working on the stadium, changing Light bulbs, manning the BBQ when amateur finals are on etc. It is not unusual really, most clubs have fans as Chairman otherwise the sport would not be like it is. Most of the ones I know in the Championships through Rugby and through business are all massive fans.
In fact off the top of my head the only one I know does not support the club as a life long fan is Stephen Ball at Hunslet who is been paid by the RFL to get them back on track after years of financial worry.
Dave Marshall at Donny is the CEO and I dont think he is a lifelong fan but started as a Community Officer so it is a nice story of him getting where he is now.
Des Johnston at Barrow and Mark Campbell at Fev surely must be the two biggest spenders outside SL looking at the squads and they way the players are looked after!! |
