he's an embarrasment, wigan chairman that is!



but true, feka would be a better player if he lost a stone or two of fat.

Leneghan is right. Feka is just enormously overweight and must be a health risk.



If he lost 3 or 4 stone he'd gain so much explosive power that he might actually manage to do something more than the odd blockbusting run.

Lenagan admitted: "We want success now and success now is Australian coaches. It will matter with a passion if we don't win a trophy next season."



Love that comment. Bit harsh on Maguire though eh? Sacked in his first season before he's really had time to remove the dead wood left to him by a succession of totally clueless coaches and administrators?

If you took time to read it this is what was said

Good to see the same old short term attitude remains. Wigan will never win anything with this mentality. Sounds like this chairman is interfering even more than Lyndsay did. I bet Brian Noble is glad to be out.

Good to see you have not read the article in question see my post just up the page for the part of the article and the last bit in bold.

I agree some people are reading half an interview, but you can't deny that Pollard could have publicly said a few things a bit better this week than he has done, no matter what he says in the confines of his office.



Laying everything at Noble's feet publicly is ok - as long as Noble doesn't create a slanging match in the media about IL's running of the club



Admitting the coach wasn't first choice live on TV



Saying the only chance of success is to appoint from overseas (hardly something to inspire Mr. Wane in terms of his long term prospects)



Comparing Grand Final winning Leeds appointing the Tri-Nations winning coach to Wigan (whom he amdits are desperately out of shape) appointing an untried Assistant Coach and expecting him to win a trophy in the first year.



To me what should be seen as a very promising appointment is being somewhat overshadowed by his ramblings & feeding the trolls.



P.S. Before you think me another troll I do believe it is a very promosing move and it should see Wigan competitve year round which is great news for the game and a return to a proper local rivalry - though IL might be expecting a lot with a trophy 2010 if he is not giving him chance to change the squad at all.

But just who is he going to vent his considerable passion at if Maguire fails to deliver a trophy?



You can't see the first statement and then make it irrelevant in the next breath with the line you are on about.



All in it seems a mighty dodgy deal to me. Maguire has never been a head coach and therefore isn't eligible to be given a work permit. It's an absolute farce that the rules are ignored because it's Wigan. How many Championship clubs have had their approaches turned down because of this rule, yet its mysteriously 'ok' for Wigan? I wonder just how much that cost them in bungs? Longy could add a chapter to his book if he knew the details of that one.
