Anyone else heard the Newton to Wakefield rumours?

I think he's out of contract at the end of the season.



He's played really well in patches, gone missing in other games and has slowed down quite a bit.



I still rate him highly. Has a very good rugby brain and has learnt the lessons of his notorious past (although some would argue this has taken the edge off his game).

I commented the other day that he's not as bad as he used to be, but he's not as good either.



By that, I meant he's nowhere near as dirty a player as he has been in the past any more. Unfortunately, along with it, he's not the top hooker he once was.



He's still a good player and on his day, can be a game winner. Unfortunately, he's just not as consistent and he has quite a few quiet games.



If Wakefield are taking him though, can we please have Brad Drew? That way, we'd get the better of the deal imo.

It wouldn't suprise me if Rinaldi was our first choice hooker next year with Godwin backing up. Does anybody know if Rinaldi is staying?

On his day Newton is excellent but he can try and do his own thing a bit too much which disrupts the team.



He's not the player he was that's for sure but we shouldn't allow him to leave unless we can sign somebody better. Dummy half is absolutely crucial in the modern game, you can have a great squad yet struggle without a decent hooker.

As we proved when Hudson got banned and left us having to play Robbie, Deacs or Aaron Smith there. As soon as Hendo arrived, it changed everything.

It's in one of the papers. They are after Newton and Shane Tronc. It mentioned Drew to Cas, too

Hope that the rumours about us going for Obst are wide of the mark.



We need a proven top quality player as our regular dummy half. If Newton is allowed to leave then the replacement must be better or as good. Obst is neither.

I for one would be very dissapointed if we signed Obst.

He has his moments, but he's certainly not good enough to be replacing a player of Newton's ability.



I'd be even more disappointed if we ended up getting Leo-Latu.



Brad Drew please. If not him, look elsewhere.
