| When was the last time that Widnes were league leaders (not counting Championship)?

| The start to the season made by Widnes (and Salford) has been exceptional and whilst nobody will be tipping them to stay at the top (apart from Denis Betts and a few optimistic fans), it will certainly make the spilt (middle 8's) interesting.
IF Widnes and Salford make the top 8, who would make up the qualifiers and I am assuming that 2 of the SL clubs will be Hull KR and Wakefield.
There is the prospect of Catalan and one of the "bigger" clubs finishing in the middle 8, which would possibly cause panic amongst the games administrators.
It would be a major setback for the game if Catalan finished in the end of season lottery league.

Cue Jean Crapdouze to inform us that once the weather picks up Catalans will start thrashing everyone at home and will
also win the CC etc etc. Blah blah.

| Well done them, just shows that a good team ethic can be better than having a few showcase players.
If they stay in the top 8 they will have done well, but along long way to go yet

It was a serious comment though.
Although many people think that it's wrong to have a French club in the comp. would we lose out on credibility and more importantly, sponsorship, if the competition were to lose both London (already in the Championship) and Catalan, who may be under threat if both Widnes and Salford remain top 8 clubs ?

| Widnes have had a great start playing open rugby so well done to them, they deserve to be top. However, I think once Kevin Brown gets injured then its going to be a real test to see if they can keep going.

| its great to see teams like widnes, salford and even my team fc making good starts, would be great for the competition go to the final round, (23) with hopefully more than a couple of teams still not safe from the bottom 4 and middle 8s'
unfortunately, due to these clubs strengthening, the odds of a championship team replacing a superleague team looks even slimmer, regardless of them having their cap raised

| Good to see a change to the top teams though. Squad depth will come into play eventually though and thats where the stronger squads usually run riot.

We played our RD 11 game during the WCS as we will be in Rd 5 of the challenge cup, but that aside we would still be Top after RD 3 even without the extra game as we lost it to Salford.
Great start by us but we have some much harder games coming up including Hull FC and Saints at Home and Wigan and Warrington Away during March, followed by a trip to the South of France early April. If we are still close to the top of the league after that run of games then I will be ecstatic.
