So it is ok for your dad to sing it with you now you are grown up , but not when you were a child ?



So is it alright for you to sing it in front of your kids ? And would your dad be happy to sing it with you in front of your kids ? ( I don't know if you have kids , or if your dad still attends games )

my dad sung it when i was a child, he also taught me as a child that even though i may hear those words used i was not allowed to use them myself. i don't have children myself as i'm only 21 but i can draw on my experiences growing up with the flute song and personally i don't see it as that big a deal..as i said in my first post they're just words and its the intent behind them that counts, and the flute song has never come across as anything but lighthearted banter to me, as child or otherwise. its just a funny song with a single swear word in it.









you are right there..but one of my fondest memories watching leigh play is the 2000/2001 challenge cup quarter, about 6000 leythers belting out the flute song as we gave the pies a good scare...the flute song adds atmosphere and thats what i want our stadium to have.

do NOT bring back the flute song

It won't happen. The only time it ever crops up is when it's mentioned on here, and I suspect a lot of those occasions are people on the wind up. You can count on one hand how many times it's been sung in the past 5 years but all that will happen when people harp on about "banning" it is that people will start to sing it again as a wind up. If people stop bringing it up then it will stay in the past, which is probably the best place for it.

The wonder of you or Hi Ho Silver Lining (Leythers smiling) i would think would get the most participation as most if not all know the melody and with some simple re working of the lyrics, and some lyric sheets to start with should sound awesome being belted out

slightly off topic but on the radio Rhianna's s&m, the words whips and chains are bleeped out which only brings it more attention of what the words are!



Anyhow, maybe someone could set up a poll with suggestions as to what you would like to hear as a new anthem, and then who knows what may come of it!! (hint, hint)
