Sad to hear that James Taylor as retired , always gave his all in a Leyth shirt. He put in some thunderous tackles much to the detriment of his safety at times.

Sad news.

Jimmy I hope you read this. You have been a stand out member of this club for a good few years now. I don't think I have seen a game where you have'nt give it your best shot. I wish you were a foot taller and a couple of stone heavier because you would have been another Leyther making it in SL now. You and your Bash Brother ( TG) have been the best two in defence for this club in years. I personally will miss your bone crunching tackles and - in attack - the way you always showed the ball to the oposition before steaming in. Will be mad not hearing your name read out ever again for Leigh and hope you prosper in retirement. All the best Jimmy.

Sad to see you having to finish Jimmy. You, more than anyone, have personified what our club is about. A Leyther through and through, who always gave 100% - and that's why, to so many Leigh fans, you are a hero.



Good luck with your retirement from the game, and your future career. If you apply yourself to it, just half as conscientiously as you did your rugby career, you will be successful.

Massive shame. So rare to get a one club man these days, and he was genuinely one of our own who I'm sure will be back on the terraces.

Sad to see a committed player end his career but at least JT never left anything in the tank.

Great player Jimmy and a really nice bloke Leyther to the core who produced some of the clubs greatest ever big hits during his career even when Jimmy was carrying injurys he always gave 100% never taking a backward step always willing to put his body on the line for the Club .Thanks for the memories Jimmy All the Best for the future ..

Sure I read summat on here a while backthat the reason JT had not been involved much this season is that he has had a transfer at work to Wales - so was unable to commit to training.



Best of luck for the future to Jimmy. He was never less than 100% commited to the cause, and was a tackle machine without equal!! Two things that come to mind - that to me epitomise Jimmy Taylor the player, and Jimmy Taylor the man - firstly, during our all too brief sojourn in SDL, in our first win, over 'Laandan', when JT nearly snapped Solomon Haumono in half with an absolute beauty!!

The other, was the fact that he was one of the few to remain loyal to the club during the dark days of 2011....when a few other Leythers took their chances elsewhere.



As Matt says, a one club man these days is rare indeed. I do hope the club can recognise Jimmy's contribution over the last ten or so seasons. A testemonial of some sort would be much deserved, and I expect, very well supported!!
