I dislike them as much as the next except for other reason and I wanted to know how many actually go to watch them from these boards?



I am not from Wigan and I struggle to understand where the rivalry comes from? In my town its between Wigan and Saints or Liverpool/Everton and Man Utd/City but I know theres no competition between the RL and Football amateur teams (in fact I know of a few that play for both!) so I just want to know why we cant all just get along?



As i've posted in another thread I have my own reason to dislike Latics (Crewe fan long story) but I dont get why the Rugby and Football cant get on? If they had got on while Whelan was in control then I cant help but think both teams may have been better off financially, though I'm rather happy IL is in control as he does seem to do a better job!

I'm a season ticket holder for both.

I find it's popular for supporters from each side to hate the other without knowing the backstory, or even being born when the actual fallout happened.

So what was the reason for that fallout?



Cockney latics (btw where the hell does "Cockney Latics" come from?!) seem to think its to do with the council picking the Rugby over them in some way.

Also if people would support their local teams (if they like RL and Football) both teams would benefit from bigger crowds, more shirt/ merchandise sales and so on.

'some' latics fans say Wigan RL/ Wigan council tried to kill them when latics were on the brink of going out if business.

Great idea, as the "cherry and white" is so famous, maybe the latics could play in the same colours!!!



I think that people here who support both are a minority, or a VERY silent majority. And i think its mainly down to a preference for a particular sport not antipathy twixt the two clubs. In the 70's and 80's i followed football avidly, and followed Bolton... But i always liked rugby league and i got increasingly tired of the way that money dominates football to a ridiculous extent. I have not watched a full game of football for over 10 years now and could not even if Bolton were in a cup final, or won the Primadonna league. In short i have no interest, but i certainly admire true fans of smaller clubs. You would be amazed how many Tangerine "colours" you see in Blackpool these days.

Football is dull I'm afraid.

my son (bless his heart) is a warriors season ticket holder, and a stockport county season ticket holder........he goes to the odd latics game.........and cheers for the opposition

No, I'm a Blackburn Rovers season ticket holder.

Move to other sports or lock it.

I don't like them and I don't go to the games but I believe they will stay up this season. So much so that odds of 9/4 are beginning to look very attractive.



Blackpool, Wolves and West Ham to go down.
