That is a bit odd, you have too assume that’s how he wanted it.

Tanginoa and Atkins picked their own numbers.

They wanted the numbers they had on their debut.

Nice to have a number but in reality they mean absolutely nothing as the form players should be picked.

Not quite nothing, I'd say that certainly up to 7 they are fairly fixed but as the season goes on I agree they will get more random.

If they mean nothing wouldn't it make sense to do them in alphabetical order - am sure that the players that have them think they mean something - you think rocky wouldn't have preferred the seven rather than 20 odd ?





They are an indication an generally speaking subject to pre season form, season form and injuries are largely an indication of what the coach sees as the preseason starting line up.

Kirmond wont get near starting line up in a fully fit squad.

The number 12 is just being respectul of what hes contributed in the past.

I can't wait to see this team play. I think it's potentially stronger than last years and I thought last years team looked great until injuries destroyed us.



A lot of players also got a bit of a wake-up call last year in that you have to raise your game every game to avoid the bottom.



So fingers crossed that injuries are more manageable this season.

I have nothing against numbering and as some on here have said previously it probably is a commercial attraction

BUT, my point really is, as the season goes on, suppose BJB (for example purpose only!) has a shocking few games would it mean that because he has a starting number he would automatically play? - I don't think so.
