Gaskells try in first half, there’s no obstruction why didn’t he to the video? Poor ref

Thought it was desperately unlucky as the try was scored from poor defence and Leuluai taking the dummy and not because Bateman was blocked off…



Thought Child had a good game overall though so no complaints there.



One thing I’d like to see stamped out though is players hysterically waving their arms about pressuring refs to go to the screen and give decisions etc… Leuluai in particular when Murphy scored was embarrassing jumping about in front of Child begging him to go to the screen …I’ve seen our players do it too…just let the refs ref the game…

There was an obstruction, but he would have scored anyway without the obstruction. Technically correct.

I thought it was obstruction but he should of gone to screen.i also thought havard dropped the ball while going over for 2nd try.also it had no effect on game but fields hattrick try his fooy was in touch again ref just gave it.



Also dont know if its allowed or not while game was still there to be won a wigan forward had ball in one hand and it looked like he may drop it but bateman came in and he held the ball in the players arm so he couldnt drop it surley this cant be legal

Dummy runner has to get through defensive line for play to continue, can't do that if Bateman tackles him. Should have been play on.

It was an obstruction. It was close and the Wigan player made a big deal of it but he needed to run through the line and he didn't. That's the rule.

I thought that at the time, and yes it wouldn't have affected the result but it was once again a poor decision not to use the technology. I've rewatched it since getting home and his toe definitely touched the line before the ball is down.

I'd have probably given the try as Bateman actually stops the runner going through rather than the runner blocking him.

Close though so hard to blame the ref

Lot of very balanced posts on this thread. Personally always glad to see Child in the "line-up". Yes he's a stickler but is very even handed. Sticking to the rules both ways, well what else can you ask from a ref?



Since Bentham hung up his whistle, think Child has been crowned king.

It was a 50/50 call IMO, though I do think he should have gone to the VR to have a look.
