Warrior Winger: Have to say, I thought we had that all sewn up in the first half and I have not seen us throw away a lead like that and not see the game out in a long while, you really showed us how to deal with adversity and come out on top, we changed too many things round and then became too complacent, thinking we were in control and we weren't.
Credit to Hull as they saw our weaknesses and exploited them like a good team should, you wanted it much more than we did and our experienced heads should have been getting back to basics to see the game out, instead we didn't respect possession or field position, we made stupid decisions and game away silly penalties, good luck for the next rounds.
It looked like it was all done and dusted at half-time (possibly even after 20 minutes!). From your perspective I think you're right in that a sense of complacent 'job done' attitude seemed to creep into your play. Then, as we gradually clawed our way back into the contest, you found it impossible to pick up again. Momentum in sport is a strange thing, when it's lost it can be very difficult to pick up the thread again and I think that was definitely a major factor in the outcome on Saturday night. As your players realised the game was still very much in the balance they then became panicky and started to push the pass where a bit of calmness was needed.
As disappointing as the result must have been for you, think it has to be set in the wider context. Your team have barely put a foot wrong over the past two years so the odd slip-up is understandable. Still think you remain the team to beat over the remainder of 2025. If you find yourselves playing rovers again, you will have plenty of support over on this side, don't worry about that!!!!!
