| Quote jehull="jehull"Maybe he is in the wrong role then. 6 & 7's need to be good organisers and creative. All the top SL clubs have two top halfbacks that can organise and create. This is why they score more and win. You can't just have one organiser and playmaker and one support player. That just puts added pressure on a 7.'"
What was it you said in an earlier post on this thread about "anyone who knows anything about rugby" do you include yourself in that bracket

I don't even know where to begin pointing out how utterly ridiculous this statement is. Danny McGuire is not an organiser. Neither is Leon Pryce. Briers does most of the organising at Wire (whilst wearing 6), but Myler (wearing 7) does not. Even Lee Gaskell at Saints played very much in the running/supporting role last season, whilst Lomax was the main organiser. And no one ever said Horne wasn't creative, but his creativity is more likely to be a piece of off-the-cuff brilliance, rather than organising plays and directing the team. Of course both players will have some input into both areas of the halfback partnership, but it's certainly not unusual (or disadvantageous) for the two players to have differing, complimentary strengths.
Either way, Horne was usually playing alongside someone like Washbrook who had no ability whatsoever as a half back. He could hardly be expected to do it all under those circumstances, could he?

| Quote voodooroo="voodooroo"WTF are you two harping on about??? you say your not having a go at him yet mention him personally, slack tarts!!
Richard Horne was clearly our best , if not close to our best player on the field last weekend , give it a rest and give him a chance FFS and before you make daft comments actually nip along and watch a match now and then and see for yourself'"
See the 5years old are out again on here with personal insults.
Once again CLASSIC mis-interpretation.
1. Horny was an example....a very good example of LAST seasons poor decision making of our coach on playing INJURED players.
2. Were did I slate off Horny on last weeks game?
3. Surprisingly, I do actually ATTEND matches.
4. CONSTRUCTIVE criticismn....LOOK up the word CONSTRUCTIVE
Who's the SLACK TART now, idiot.

Because my opinion is that Horne isn't the best half backs because he doesn't create much and cant organise means I don't know much about rugby. If you wrote down qualities of a half back would you think Horney has any of them? He is just a support player. Over the past 4 years he hasn't organised, created, kicked well. You say he hasn't had a good 7 to play with him. Does that mean he can't create? I agree he isn't the best organiser but he should step up to the plate. He is a fully professional rugby player ffs. Fair enough if we had no half backs and put Mark O'Meley at 6 and he didn't create or organise. It isn't though Horne isn't familiar with that role. No one has answered my question. Would Horne get into any other top 8 SL team? If so who? Was a great player but hasn't done enough over the years. Hope he will prove me wrong and play some good rugby.

| I do think the OP used Horne as an example and didn't slate him for this years performance.
Still there are plenty of mitigating factors with Horne in recent season which people always conveniently forget.

Conveniently forget?
So RA was right in risking more physical damage to RH by playing him whilst nowhere near fit ?
Did that decision help Hull FC or hinder us and RH ?
Once again missing the point.....Lets praise PG for NOT playing unfit players....Simples.

Firstly I actually backed up your original point.
Secondly you completely missed my point about the mitigating factors about his poor form. For example no halfback partner, playing injured etc.

A comparison between Horne last season and Kevin Brown at Huddersfield.
Now tell me that Horne isnt a creative halgf back'"
Brown. Forgot about him. Another hole blown in jehull's silly argument about all the top teams having two organising half backs.

| I'm sure last year someone dug out Horne's stats, compared him against the other top stand offs in the league and he was right up there.
What a ridiculous thread.

| Horne was man of the match against Bradford, in a team that contained Seymour, who I assume you think is brilliant based on his reputation. Against Warrington, Horne was in the top 3 of nearly everyone's man of the match selection. Why do we afford new signings almost bullet proof status, and yet look for reasons to put down our veterans? It will happen next match too, any of the new signings (especially overseas) will play an average game, and loads on here will post about how great they played, and yet the likes of Horney can play a great game, and the opposite will happen. I'm sure it's a matter of time before Horne has a poor game, and he'll be absolutely slated for it, but several others will have many poor games and get totally overlooked. This phenomenon has frustrated me for many years now.
