| With PG seemingly being true to his word and not picking players who are not 100% fit e.g. carroll only 85% and not picked....There's NO EXCUSES for players like Horny under performing and playing most of last season 65% fit.
THIS IS NOT having a go at 'horny', just stating that if you don't perform well you can't blame being injured....How refreshing.
PG needs to fully utilise his bench to contribute to keeping players fresh and protect any injured players.

| Horne has been a fantastic servant to the club and was a quality player but IMO he is only playing because of his reputation as a Hull born and bred lad. He hasn't been good enough in the past 4 years, mainly down to injury etc. If he wasn't at Hull would he get into any top 8 team in the SL? To be honest the only SL clubs that might play him would be Salford and possibly Wakefield. I'm not slating Horne because he always gives 100% effort and was a quality player. Once upon a time he was like a Danny McGuire. Fast, skillful and elusive but I don't think he adds much now. Maybe I'm being over critical or harsh but from what I've seen he hasn't been up to the standard our club want's to be aiming for. Rather go with the young guns (Ellis and Nicklas) with Seymour. If Horney still isn't fully fit, give him a few months off.

Richard Horne was clearly our best , if not close to our best player on the field last weekend , give it a rest and give him a chance FFS and before you make daft comments actually nip along and watch a match now and then and see for yourself

Was judging on the past 4 years when played. I couldn't make it last week due to weather but made almost every game in the past few years. I hope he has a great season and gets back in good form. But over the past few seasons would he get in any other top 8 or 10 club for that matter? I don't think so. Maybe I am being too critical to early in the season. Hopefully towards the end of the season I would take back what I say! Hopefully I will because there's nothing better seeing a local lad play good rugby.

What percentage of the time, roughly, over those 4 years has he been playing in his preferred position with a settled half back partner?
How hard can it be? Richard Horne is not a scrum half. He's not an organiser. He's not got much of a long range kicking game. Yet he's been asked to step into those roles time and time again over the past few years - often whilst carrying an injury himself. If he gets a run at stand off and manages to stay fit, judge him then.

I agree that I shouldn't be criticising him so early. He may have had a good game last week. Hopefully it will continue. Basically what I'm saying is that he should step up to to plate more often this season and do more. He hasn't done much for a good few years. Everyone who knows anything about rugby will agree with that! Maybe down to injury. Hopefully that's behind him and he can kick on and play well. He will have to because we have good young halfbacks breathing down his neck.

I disagree, i think he has had to do too much.
He has had to captain, direc the team, play scrum half/full back/stand off, be the main field kicker etc
That isnt his game, and never has been. He is a runner, with a good short kicking game and a good defender all of which we saw from him on Sunday

Maybe he is in the wrong role then. 6 & 7's need to be good organisers and creative. All the top SL clubs have two top halfbacks that can organise and create. This is why they score more and win. You can't just have one organiser and playmaker and one support player. That just puts added pressure on a 7.
