Having watched Hull choke so often this season and also having listened to Radford's interview I picked up on a couple of things he said which has lead me to think sports psychology is something not understood or practised at our club. Psychological skills are just as important as pyshical skills.



Lee said he would "hope" the team can take what has been practised and be transfered across the whitewash. Unfortunately the days of coaching or performing through "hope" are no longer appropriate or effective.



Come on Hull sort it out, AP promised us this area would be addressed when it clearly hasn't.

Dead right! Leeds were addressing this area years ago and they are the smartest thinking team in the league. Our players have the physical attributes but are so dumb. Mental toughness enables players to think clearly under pressure. A good sports psychologist could add 10% to the performance of the team.

I believe this is the key to our consistancy problem, the way we "choke" is down to the Moments of panic, anxiety and emotions that interfere with the physical performance. Psychological techniques can teach the players how to control these factors.

I agree that we should be exploring every avenue including this one. But at most I see it as a 10%er which would get you past the winning post in a tight game (undoubtedly would have helped this year). We're still 20-30% short in the key skills/players area as well though IMO.

Can't see how you can put a percentage of 10% when the difference between our best and worst performances (if transferred to a percentage) is way higher than 10%. If a prepared mindset can give you a level of consistancy close to your best weekly then surely thats what we are looking for. Not a 10% increase in random performances?

We have Keith Earle from University of Hull working for us I think, or at least he was.

Sometimes I think some of our players are too dumb to understand anything a sports psychologist might tell them.

Radford looks like he needs a counsellor, he looks lost at sea without a rudder.

A psychologist would have a field day with his pre and after match interviews alone.

Yeaman can barely remember that a winger plays on the outside of him.
